Lisa Halloran is a kindergarten teacher at Mohegan Elementary School in Montville, CT.  She teaches newcomers to the English language as well as English speaking students.  Lisa has been teaching for 28 years and has also taught special education and second grade.  She has a master’s degree in special education with a concentration in gifted and talented.  Lisa has presented at ATOMIC.  Lisa has also taken classes in therapeutic recreation, enjoys amateur photography, and Impressionism.

On April 5, 2016 I was awarded fellowship monies from Fund for Teachers to study art in Paris.  I will study art as a means of enriching English Language Learners oral vocabulary and communication skills. The knowledge I gain from this fellowship will enhance my teaching and allow me to train other educators in using art as a means to higher level vocabulary aquisition.
