Today we were picked up by our tour guide Danielle at our apartment. After picking up another family of 3 we arrived at the Louvre. After going through security we made our way straight to the Mona Lisa. We were so very lucky to be able to get up to the first row near the rope to view her with no one in front of us. I must admit I had a few tears at the sight of her. There is no picture copy of her that I have ever seen that comes close to the real thing. Although the museum store gets close there is something about her that takes your breath away. If you are one of those people that doen't understand her beauty trust me she is beautiful. There is a kindness to her face and glow which I just can not explain. In the picture you can see her in a bullet proof case which goes into the floor and into a safe at night. Our guide was very informative during the three hours we were with her and truly made the very crowded Louvre experience worthwhile. The other picture I have included dates back to 2700 BC. I am also happy to report that I found the only Impressionism exhibition in the Lourvre. A donation by Helene and Victor Lyon under the condition that it always remains at the Louvre. The map of the Louvre comes in many different languages and I am bringing back one in every language offered for our school. These will serve as great educational tools across the curriculum. Lesson of the day: Do not go to the Lourvre without a tour guide it is well worth it. Know what interests you and study the map. Your guide will direct you to where you need to go and answer all of your questions at the end of the tour. Merci, Danielle !
