Selfridges & Harrods

Today my husband Charlie joined us in London. We all met at the hotel and after a short rest we took off for a walk to Selfridges. It was quite exciting as I approached Oxford Street and saw all the flags on top of the 1909 building. I have watched all 4 seasons of the PBS masterpiece series Selfridges and have also watched a documentary on Harry Selfridge. Although the store is quite modern on the inside there is still some original construction. As all the shoppers were busy moving about there was me taking pictures ! For those of you who have watched the series the staff still wears all black and are easily accessible in high numbers to help with whatever you need. You can make your purchase in the department you are shopping in and eat at one of many restaurants within. There is even a grocery department and florist. Melissa thoroughly enjoyed the many rooms of make up with assistance at every counter. Although we didn't have much time we took a taxi from there to Harrods. We only had about 45 minutes before they closed but it was enough time to get a brief overview of the store and see the Princess Diana memorial. After seeing the memorial we went to look for a taxi and we saw a gold Ferrari ! Our taxi driver recommended fish and chips for supper and it was delicious.
