Today we spent the day in London. We walked, took the Hop on Hop off bus and rode a river boat on the Thames River. We saw Big Ben and Westminster Abbey before we took a walking tour to try and see the changing of the guard. We saw the Regimental Band on their way to the changing of the guard ceremony and we also saw wedding guests arriving to a wedding at Buckingham Palace by horse drawn carriages. Unfortunately we could not see the actual changing of the guard due to the crowds but did see the closing march of the band outside Saint James Palace up close. On from there we went to Borough Market for lunch which has served as an outdoor market dating back to the 1500s. From there to the London Bridge, the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. After our cruise on the Thames River we went to the London Eye. Thank goodness for our skip the line tickets because we waited only about 17 minutes to board instead of the usual over 2 hour wait. We ended the evening at Piccadilly Circus which is very similar to our Times Square. Dinner at Bubba Gumps Shrimp Company and we finally arrived back to the hotel around 11:15 pm. A very long day. Food for the day: another octopus salad this time with sour dough bread with butter !!
